Chapter Philanthropy

The Beta Eta Chapter of Alpha Xi Delta at the University of Maryland is dedicated to supporting our philanthropy, Autism Speaks. Our chapter takes part in various events throughout the year to promote our cause. To date, our chapter has raised more than $100,000 for Autism Speaks since our re-colonization on campus in 2013!

In the fall, our chapter hosts the event "Xiti with the Xi’s.” During this fun night, our sisters work together to provide unlimited ziti, salad, bread, and desserts to friends and family. We always have a blast making and serving the food together. All of the proceeds from the night support Autism Speaks.

Our chapter also attends the Walk Now for Autism Speaks event in Washington
DC. As a group, we help to host the event and to get petitions signed in support of legislation that would give more financial aid to families who are affected by Autism. We always love to take part in this national walk for our philanthropy.

In the spring, our chapter hosts our largest event, the Step It Up 5k. Last year, we raised $22,000 for Autism Speaks' research, awareness, advocacy, and family services. We had so much fun making the event a color run and rooting on our friends and family as they finished the 5k. We had a DJ, lawn games for families, and delicious food and drinks. With more than 275 participants last year, we couldn’t have been happier with the turnout!
